Cody Rhodes pulled off a remarkable performance to beat Brock Lesnar at the SummerSlam. Rhodes’ sublime fight not only impressed WWE fans but also earned him a show of respect from his opponent. After the fight was officially over, Lesnar decided to shake hands with Rhodes. The two fierce rivals hugged each other in the middle of the ring and Lesnar even raised The American Nightmare’s hand. WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H was asked about Lesnar’s gesture and he said that it was “totally unplanned and spontaneous”.
“I heard Cody say he hadn’t had time to really digest the Brock Lesnar moment after their match – completely unplanned, completely in the moment. Name the amount of people that Brock Lesnar has gotten up after going through a match like that, shook their hand and pulled them in to hug them before walking out. I know Brock, I work with him all the time. That was a “holy s***” moment for me! So, when Cody realises what happened, I think – that’s a moment,” Triple H said at the post-show press conference.

The Brock Lesnar and Cody Rhodes SummerSlam fight lasted for 17 minutes but it was enough to enthrall WWE fans. Lesnar dominated the fight delivering multiple suplexes. Rhodes ultimately came up with Cross Rhodes thrice to get the pinfall for a victory. Despite conceding a defeat, Lesnar was praised by Triple H. Describing Lesnar as “one of the all-time greats,’ Triple H applauded The Beast Incarnate for doing a tremendous job in WWE and UFC.
“For me, you know, Brock Lesnar is such a unique athlete, human being, all those things, but I don’t believe he gets the credit he should for being one of the all-time greats at this. You know, an unbelievable athlete at the highest of levels, UFC at the highest of levels – but just talking about sports entertainment, in my opinion, one of the greatest of all time,” Triple H said.
The SummerSlam 2023 fight between Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar was their third meeting in WWE. In their first match at Backlash earlier this year in May, Rhodes had claimed a victory. Lesnar earned his first win against Rhodes at the Night of Champions. Rhodes now brought a temporary end to their four-month-long storyline with a victory at this year’s SummerSlam last weekend.
On the other hand, the main event of SummerSlam 2023, involving Jey Uso and Roman Reigns in the Undisputed Universal Championship fight, had a big surprise for the WWE universe. During the championship bout, Jimmy Uso came out of nowhere to betray his own brother Jey. Jimmy’s shocking intervention was enough to help Reigns to defend his title.
